Episode #4 Children in 2021

I think this is such a CRUCIAL topic for everyone right now. It’s big and our conversation covers a bit of it, I realize, but we had to start somewhere. We opened this episode with the quote quote by Khalil Gibran, which clearly shows how we see our starting point. Further on we shared why, in our opinion, caring for and protecting children is not only a task for parents, but for every adult.

“Your children are not your children.
They are sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you.
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For thir souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.”

Children are the future of humankind and how we treat them, what we teach them (as parents and as society) and how we safe-keep their freedom to express themselves authentically will set the course for ALL of us.

In this episode we share:

  • children and the education system
  • why caring for children is not only a task for parents, but for everyone
  • how our work, Anneke as psychiatric nurse, and me in former job at the Prosecutors’ Office, inspire our thinking today
  • Anneke shared why she is considering homeschooling
  • why we think children are geniuses and natural problem solvers
  • why we think forcing masks on children severely impedes their emotional development and their sense of safety
  • and more! PLUS as usually, we shared our personal stories and how we are paving our paths out of the box

This is a podcast where we talk about how to find your own way to clarity. Life can be a messy journey, and we believe it’s not a bad thing, it is simply a part of the path and it can actually open the way to deeper clarity, if we allow ourselves to face it.
